Dr. Gururaj Arumugakani

Dr. Gururaj Arumugakani began his Allergy and Immunology training in 2006, gaining his PhD at the University of Leeds, studying the role of B-cells in allergy and other immune mediated conditions. For the past 5 years, he has been a Consultant in Allergy and Immunology within the Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust, serving a population of around 2.5 million. He specialises in all aspects of allergy practice including, food allergy, drug allergy, inhalant allergy, venom allergy, urticaria and immunotherapy.
He was actively involved in the initial trials of Omalizumab for urticaria and helped pioneer home therapy for urticaria. He is currently involved in clinical trials exploring newer biological treatments for urticaria. He is the clinical governance lead for the Allergy and Clinical Immunology department in Leeds and chairs the Immunoglobulin Panel.
He also provides expert advice on allergy and immunology blood testing, performed at the specialist immunology laboratory for the entire region.
He is a Senior member of the British Society of Allergy & Clinical Immunology (BSACI).
