Dr. Emily Derrick

MBBS MSc (Allergy)

Consultant Paediatrician & Allergist

Dr Emily Derrick is a leading consultant in paediatric allergy and general paediatrics.

She trained in paediatric allergy at St Mary's Hospital, Royal London Hospital and Evelina Children's Hospital and completed a Masters in Allergy during her training.

Dr Derrick now works as the lead for paediatric allergy at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust.
She is an expert in the care of infants and children from birth to age eighteen with all atopic conditions, including food allergy, respiratory allergy, asthma, gastrointestinal allergy, allergic rhinitis and chronic urticaria.

Her clinical experience covers the assessment and management of common food allergies such as cow’s milk protein allergy, egg allergy, peanut and tree nut allergies, as well as hay fever and other environmental triggers. As a general paediatrician, she also advises on broader medical concerns that may not be allergy-related.

Dr Derrick has a particular interest in eczema in babies and young children and has developed a community-based eczema education service. Her approach is holistic, recognising the impact of allergic conditions on both the child and their family, and she works closely with families to develop tailored management plans.

As part of her clinical assessments, Dr Derrick regularly performs skin prick testing and arranges specific IgE blood tests where appropriate, to support accurate diagnosis and informed care.

Dr Derrick also runs the British Paediatric Allergy Network, an online discussion forum for professionals working in paediatric allergy. She is actively involved with the British Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (BSACI), where she serves as the paediatric scientific programme director.
