What Are Expert Professional Medical Assessments?
Unlike most other chronic medical conditions, people with allergies are usually fit and healthy day to day. However, if you are prone to severe allergic reactions due to food, insect stings or others, it may present a difficulty for some employers e.g. Military, Cruise Ships, Aviation. These industries therefore often require expert professional assessments to be included in your applications or pre-employment.

Some scenarios we often see:
-
Those who have been labelled as having food allergies in childhood but have not had recent reactions or may not actually have an allergy.
-
Those who had mild food allergy in childhood but have but no longer do.
-
Those with mild symptoms on exposure to allergens, e.g. oral allergy syndrome, but their medical records state that have allergies.
-
Those who have been prescribed ‘precautionary’ AAI (Adrenaline Auto Injector) but may not have needed it and have never used it.

How we assess:
Our BSACI registered allergist will start by taking a full medical history and choosing from one or more of the following tests to determine the severity of your allergy.

How long the results take:
-
Skin prick testing happens during the consultation and the results are instant.
-
Blood test results typically take 2–3 working days, the results will be sent to you and the doctor will also incorporate these results into the report.
-
Oral food challenges have increased risks associated with them. They can take up to a full day and must be performed in a hospital setting, where all necessary staff, facilities, and equipment are readily available.

How it works:
See a BSACI registered allergist for a comprehensive assessment and report of your condition.
The consultation fee is £350 for a 1 hour appointment and a comprehensive medical report prepared in accordance with BSACI guidelines. The consultation is an independent assessment, and the report will be based on the doctor’s professional opinion.
